Nankouma Drum Core Performance at Centers for New Horizons, Chicago 2007



In the traditional context, Malinke drumming has always been tied to events in the lives of the community. As a community-based organization, we strive to maintain this element of the tradition. So we were especially pleased and honored to have been given this opportunity to perform for the Kijana Jitu Rites of Passage Ceremony at the Centers for New Horizons this year to celebrate the transition of a fine group of young people from boys to men.
